The responsibilities of the EHS Specialist are to ensure that the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) including mitigation measures, monitoring activities, and institutional strengthening-capacity building and training actions is implemented properly and in accordance to national and World bank guidelines throughout the various phases of the project. It is envisaged that the EHS Specialist will have at least 10 years of professional experience working on similar assignments, ability to work with government officials, contractors and consultants, familiarity with environmental and health and safety assessments with comprehensive ESMPs for equivalent size projects, and a proven track record in coordinating a diverse group of professionals. The EHS Specialist will cover all Contracts implemented by both the CDR and the BMLWE, and will have to report to both Project Coordinators respectively. The EHS Specialist will be hired on part-time basis by both the CDR and BMLWE, but will be hired on a full-time basis for the combined part-time Contracts. Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
