EBML | Vision

Overview

The Lebanon Water Project (LWP) is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with the objective of increasing access to clean, reliable, and sustainable sources of water for Lebanese citizens by the year 2025.

LWP focuses on improving Lebanon’s capacity in the management of water resources, enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of the public water utilities through the provision of technical and capital assistance.

LWP promotes better water governance as a means to help ensure long-term preservation of Lebanon’s water resources.

Development of EBML Sectors

Building a main center for the institution in Dora
Establishing a general warehouse for EBML on an area of 10,000 square meters
Developing and equipping all the institution's buildings
Activating water laboratories in all districts in cooperation with the American University of Beirut laboratories
Automating the organization's very extensive archiving system
Evaluation and limitation of the establishment's properties
Activating the remote monitoring and control project through SCADA System

Development of water resources

Completion of the implementation of the Bekaata Dam, including the pumping line, to the Ain Alaq reservoirs with the Ministry of Energy and Water .
Completion the Jannah Dam and drawing its water to Beirut and its suburbs
Completion of the Al-Awali Water pumping line to Beirut and its suburbs, and the construction of an Al-Awali Water Refining Station in Wardaniya
Development of wells and refineries for areas that need water resources
Establishment of desalination plants for the wells that feed Greater Beirut
Digging horizontal wells for Al-Manboukh
Digging wells at Majdal Tarshish
Digging a well in Nabay
Preparing a well and a pumping station for the Bsalim coastal reservoir

Rehabilitation of facilities

Project of expanding and rehabilitating the Dbayeh, Nahr Ibrahim, and Jbeil water treatment stations, funded by KFW .
Cleaning, rehabilitating and constructing reservoirs according to requirements funded by KFW and UNICEF
Expansion, rehabilitation and renewal of all water networks in the regions

Control of Non revenue water

Comprehensive survey on all areas to control violations and prepare a broad plan that requires all citizens to participate and pay their duties
Launch a campaign to control and correct violations
Installing meters for all subscribers, with the completion of the water plan, to enable the distribution of water 24/24
Organizing water confined areas (DMA) in coastal Matn, South Beirut and Keserwan (World Bank)
